10DYC: three movies

This was quite possibly the easiest one to do, just for the fact that I have three favorite movies, and I just can not chose a favorite of the three.  My reasons behind why I love them so much, well, they're a bit difficult to explain.

1. The Great Debaters

Besides the fact that I love debate, I love this movie because of the historical references that they included.  The acting is just fantastic and I can simply watch this movie over and over again. Plus, it's a Harpo film, if that counts for anything.  Another one of my favorite quotes comes from this movie, and it's also currently at the top of this blog.

"We do what we have to do,
so we can do what we want to do."

2. Soul Surfer

I first saw this movie with my youth leader and one of my friends from church when it first came out in theatres.  I didn't really know what to expect going into the movie, but I had an open mind about it.  I remember at one point, crying during the movie and I still do at the same part.  I love this movie because I feel a connection to the story line, it has also explained things to me that no one has been able to do.

Sidenote: we're actually doing a bible study group over this movie in our church youth group.
The outline for the group is supposed to last until the end of December if I remember correctly.
Once we finish the study over this movie, I'll write a full review over it and explain exactly
what I thought about it.

2. The Ultimate Gift

I can't even begin to explain this one.  I can say that I cry, without doubt, every single time I watch it.  I also have a form of a connection to this story line as well, though in a slightly different sense.  I seriously can't even explain my reasons why I love this movie because they're so complex that my brain hasn't even completely comprehended them.

Today is awesome because tomorrow is Friday!

BEDA 27: that ape movie

Hey internet, how's it going? I've been feeling rather disconnected from you since school started, especially this last week. *sigh*

Today, as planned, my dad and I went to the movies to see, and I quote my dad, "That ape movie".  That ape movie, Rise of the Planet of Apes, was actually quite good in my opinion.  I think nearly every aspect of filming it was quite good.  I enjoyed watching my dad's reaction at various parts of the film through the corner of my eyes, I knew he had seen the original version before and I think he was surprised at how much more refined they made it.

I did however find it kind of long at points.  Especially the beginning part, but I really enjoyed the fact that yes it did take forever for the main plot of the movie to arise, but the background to it was a perfect timing.  I liked seeing Caesar grow up to the point where the main plot of the story began.

Overall, I think it was a great film; would I go back and see it again, probably not. But if I were to come across it on DVD in the future, I would probably watch it again.

Today was awesome because: My dad and I watched the new episode of Doctor Who together, and it was FANTASTIC, and I pretty much got him hooked on the show, again. He was on the bandwagon before I was, secretly of course; and then fell off of it until recently when I started bugging him about it.

BEDA 26: a good end to a crap week

This week has been extremely bad for me, and I was on the verge of another meltdown this afternoon.  But after going to dinner with my parents, and then to the green and white (our school colors) scrimmage with two of my close friends, it made things a lot better.  Plus, I guess the Welcome Back to School Dance was alright, I mean, it was the best one they've had, it only took FOUR years to get it.  But regardless, tonight, I was able to just be myself and not worry about things.

I also made a big decision today that involved something I love to do very dearly. But I'll elaborate on that later, I dont' want to kill the good mood I'm in talking about that; plus, I'm dog tired and ready to go to bed.

So, I guess that's pretty much it I think.  Oh, dad and I are planning on going to the movies tomorrow after noon to see Planet of the Apes, we've both really wanted to see it since the trailers started coming out. Maybe I'll review it tomorrow...

Until tomorrow. (:

Today was awesome because: I made a new friend, Jennifer, she's a freshman, and she actually surprised me by coming up to me and started a conversation. All the freshman this year are scared to death of the seniors, and though that's how I think it should be (bahaha), I was happy she put forth the effort to talk to me. She sounds like a pretty cool girl.

come on brain

I'm in one of those funks.  The type of funks that you don't really want to do anything.  Well, actually, I take that back.  I have a long list of things I want to accomplish and work on, but alas, my brain of mine won't put in the effort to work.

For example, I had attempted on several several occasions the last few days to write a blog post about something some what important and relevant.  But my brain basically shut off on me a couple sentences into the post.  I fear my brain is finally getting back at me for over loading it in the fall. I mean, if I was my brain, I would revolt about now.  It's the crucial part of the school year...even if I do take my classes online.  But everything right now effects senior year and if I graduate on time or not.

The only thing that my brain has really permitted me to doing is watching stuff on Netflix, granted though, I'm not entirely wasting my time away watching pointless movies. I mean, the vast majority, and I'm talking about like 99% of the stuff I've been watching has been documentaries. The other 1% has been a mixture of things from Doctor Who to Greek  to dramatic movies.  Just yesterday, I watched three documenties and a movie that I'll most likely end up watching again today.

Such a pointless post.

this didn't happen...

Yesterday our internet was out, well, actually I guess all I had to do was reset the router, but usually when I'm the that does that I tend to either push the wrong button and cause more problems. So, I just hung around waiting for my mom to come home at 3:30 to take me to my afternoon physical therapy visit.

I decided, since I couldn't get online to do my school lessons, that I'd watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince because, well, it's been a very long time since I had seen it.

As I watched the first, maybe hour, I was shocked to have not remembered half the stuff that happened. I mean, I knew the stuff happened because I've read the book. But I didn't remember seeing it before, like it was my first time seeing it.

And then I got to thinking, I had gotten the DVD for Christmas but I hadn't opened it because I had already seen it. But I can't for the life of me think back to when I saw it.  I'm thinking I probably saw it with my cousin, whom also went with me to watch Order of the Phoenix when it came out in theatres, but it still seemed so weird to me.

Let's just say, my mind was boggled yesterday.  I was slightly confused, and of course worried. Because, let's be honest, I love Harry Potter so much that I shouldn't forget stuff like this.

change of pace

I have just recently decided that I'm changing up my blog, and broadening my topics of my blog posts.  I have a feeling that there will be a lot of blogging about Harry Potter going on.  Book and movie reactions possibly and just a bunch of random stuff...stuff that will actually make this seem a little more...blog-ish...and not so downing.
